ARTIST + ARCHITECT

Design to Dematerialise and Develop System and Services

Trying to use less of resources and material, there's collabritive consumption. People sharing skills, time and goods. We can also find support system such as repair, update or customisation. Consumers do not have to own every possible thing, instead they can try shoes rental, hire services; to support an existing garament. Means less ownership and less use of materials. We now have apps that help us, as consumers, with style and fitting. As designer we can be the system thinker, see the larger system that operates around the brand or garament.

Working as well as interacting, alongside other artists opens new fields for us. It creates a social and interpersonal environment. It's a possiblity to create something very special. An architect is responsible for many things such as mechanical services, ladncape and the architecture of the building. An artist could know much about colour and texture, so that it can be an exchange of skill. It would not only be challenging but also a delight in the end.

To me it's great for people who are fed up with over-consumption. As a human being, I often forget how much we can learn from one another. Consumtion takes such a part in our daily life. Being more informed opens my eyes and lets me rethink of what is actually happening on our planet Earth. As a designer, there's defenitely more I can do. Sharing tools, forgeting about ownership, is a great opportunity. It redues the need to consume as well as it cuts down on waste, and usage of energy and water. During my project, I tried to make a change. By creating a space where it would gather people, teaching a new skill (coppicing). There's no need to consume any materials as it uses nature and lets it grow happily in city center. working in studios where I use borrowed tool was a great experience, and I have also made new friends (alongside new skills).
