THE GREEN PALLET.
'The Green Palette is a sustainable design living service, fostering an organic relationship with ones natural surroundings. Our interior designers strategically collaborate in our unified design-build process for projects ranging from retail, academic, spiritual, office, and home to elevate the interior experience beyond the challenges they present and imbue a value for sustainability.'
HERBERT & MASON'S BOMBED MACHČ SHOP.
It was deliberately self- contained and independent of its settings, so that it can be relocated elsewhere. The shop higlights the nature of retail design with a cardboard construction that can be recycled when no longer needed.
The entire structure is built out of cardboard, but as an installation within an exisiting interior. The Bombed Machč is formed of 80% reclaimed materials, which is a huge contrast to most retail interiors.
Sian, M.,2012. Sustainablity in Interior Design. Lauren King Publishing Ltd
From my point of view, cardboard has many advantages and one of them is being recyclable. It can also be reused and upcycled. Adding new value and purpose. It has become a popular matrial for projects, because of being so cheap, lightweight and strong - makes it perfect for short-term interiors. As it's not as durable as traditional building materials, but coatings have been applied for fire and moisture resistant.
